Strategic Environmental Design | High-Stakes Funding Initiative
"Designing at this scale is about hierarchy. A 35-foot wall can easily become overwhelming. My goal was to create a 'layered' experience: the satellite photo provides the 'What,' the illustrations explain the 'How,' and the video provides the 'Why.' It’s about leading the viewer’s eye through a $500 million story without losing them in the technical details."
Article about the ongoing project.
The Challenge
Support the securement of financing for a $500M facility through a high-impact physical narrative.
The Creative Solution
Directed the conceptualization and production of a 350 sq. ft. informational installation for the Oakland HQ, translating complex operational data into a compelling visual story for stakeholders.
Macro-to-Micro Storytelling: I utilized a custom-shot satellite photograph of the Bay Area service area as the foundation, providing immediate geographic context for viewers.
Conceptual Illustration: I designed a series of custom boards featuring original illustrations of complex recycling machinery and waste-stream flows, making the "futuristic" aspect of the facility tangible.
Multimedia Integration: To add a dynamic layer to the static display, I integrated a video monitor playing a five-minute introductory loop that set the stage for the guided tour.
The Result
Successfully served as the primary visual tool in a funding campaign that secured $500M in capital investment.
